Romanticism - the first Industrial Revolution


The first Industrial revolution began from the 1800 till 1848. Basically it began from the French revolution. This revolution brought many major changes in political life, from public and subjective experience. This changed from large characterizes the new style of romanticism. These romantic painters show their emotions and thoughts in their drawings such as, the first painting of David Gros. This painting was made in 1804 ,he went five years back in time,showing Napoleon  visiting a hospital to see his troops. As a composition David Gros is showing a sense of feeling, uses warm, sensual colours, extreme of dark and light parts, contrast and dramatic scene. He focuses on the dead and dying people.

 Another painting that is called the Raft of the Medusa is painted by Gericault. This is made in 1818 till 1819. Gericault`s painting is showing the frightening, confusion and it is well composed. The story of this painting is about 150 people in a raft trying to survive but unfortunately 15 only survived.

If you can see in these Paintings there are a combination of showing the same sense of feeling and also are drawn like a dramatic scene.

There are more artists that painted romanticism in this period such as Goya the romanticism of Spain, Turner the romanticism of England that shows a tragic, The German Caspar David Friedrich and then it continues in the United States from different artists.
